Mary joined the firm as of counsel in 2015. Her practice focuses on a variety of insurance defense matters, including medical and other professional liability, products and premises liability, auto torts, and commercial litigation. She is dedicated to exceptional client service and the early development of strategy in each case. Preparation for trial begins with the first client call.
Mary grew up in Philadelphia, but chose to make Baltimore her home. She graduated from Loyola College cum laude, obtained her law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law, and immediately began her career as a trial lawyer, first-chairing the successful defense of an uninsured motorist case a few months after admission to the Maryland bar. She practiced in personal injury for both plaintiff and defense in a small firm for the first five years, then primarily lead paint defense for a medium-sized firm, and then as staff counsel for a major property and casualty insurer for 15 years before joining Crosswhite, Limbrick & Sinclair, LLP. She is happy to return to the collegiality and flexibility of a small law firm.
Though she considers herself a perpetual student of the law, she is also a teacher of it, serving as a trial instructor at the AIG Trial School in 2002, at the Maryland Defense Counsel Trial Academy in 2014 and 2015, and at the University of Maryland School of Law Mock Trial Competition in 2015. She enjoys the variety of her cases, the fact that each day as a trial lawyer is different, and the myriad and ingenious ways in which people and companies find themselves in need of legal assistance.
Mary is admitted to the bars of the State of Maryland, the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and for the District of Columbia Circuit. She is a past president of Maryland Defense Counsel (2012 – 2013), and is a member of Defense Research Institute, the American Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association, the Bar Association of Baltimore City (where she serves on the Professional Ethics Committee), and the District of Columbia Bar Association. She performs pro bono work through Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, serves as a peer review panel member for the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission, and volunteers her time with various projects at CollegeBound, which is an organization dedicated to assisting Baltimore City public high school students getting into and staying in college.
In her free time, Mary spends weekends in the late summer and fall chasing D III football games throughout central Pennsylvania, watching her son play and gathering intel on the competition. She, her husband, and children are avid Orioles and Ravens fans.
