KRISTINE
CROSSWHITE
In 1997, Kris became the founding partner of the precursor to Crosswhite, Limbrick & Sinclair, LLP. Her business vision was simple – she believed that the high quality legal services afforded by large law firms could be provided to clients on a more competitive economic basis within the collegial atmosphere of a small law firm. The provision of high quality, competitively priced legal representation has been the hallmark of Crosswhite, Limbrick & Sinclair's practice for more than 10 years.
Kris grew up in the Annapolis, Maryland area. She was awarded a B.A. degree from the University of Maryland with highest honors in 1975. She obtained her J.D., Order of the Coif, from the University of Maryland in 1983. Kris knows that there is only one correct answer to the question, "Are you a Terp?"
After law school, Kris began her practice as an associate at Miles & Stockbridge. As a litigator, she focused on insurance defense, insurance coverage, commercial, product liability and toxic tort litigation. Kris was fortunate to have mentors who encouraged her to try cases as first-chair and to brief and argue appeals. She built a significant body of trial and appellate work, became a partner at Miles & Stockbridge and ultimately served as National Trial Counsel for several Fortune 100 corporations.
Kris's practice is focused on insurance defense, insurance coverage, bad faith, banking and other forms of commercial litigation. Kris also works actively as a mediator. She was certified as a mediator in 1995 by the Harvard Law School Program of Instruction for Lawyers and, over the years, she has mediated more than 300 cases ranging from small personal injury cases to large, complex lawsuits.
Kris is admitted to the bars of the State of Maryland, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Eighth Circuits. Kris has been admitted pro hac vice and has litigated cases in Delaware, California, New Jersey, Texas, Iowa and West Virginia. She has eleven reported appellate opinions.
Kris has been married to her husband, Joe, for more than twenty-five years. She and her husband have two grown children, both of whom live in Los Angeles. When not practicing law, Kris enjoys hanging out with her Bernese Mountain Dog, Penny Lane; coddling her rose bushes; bicycling the hills of northern Baltimore County; and playing golf badly, confident in the belief that the next drive really will fly 300 yards off of the tee and land gently and sweetly on the green.
